San Antonio Theaters

There are a lot of San Antonio theaters, both for movies and for plays and concerts.

The most beautiful and popular is the Majestic Theatre. Check ahead to see if something you are interested in will be there during your visit to San Antonio. If so, buy your tickets in advance online. Tickets for Majestic Theatre events sell out quickly.

Another beautiful theater built long ago in downtown San Antonio is the Aztec Theatre.

The Alamo Street Restaurant And Theatre was once a lovely church in the King William District.

The Arneson River Theatre is an amphitheater on the San Antonio River. I wrote about it in another hub. Many plays and ballets are put on in the Cockrell Theatre in downtown San Antonio.

The Carver Community Cultural Center sponsors visual and performing arts. Take the tour of this facility.

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is dedicated to Hispanic arts.

The Harlequin Dinner Theater is located on Fort Sam Houston and the public is allowed.

The Josephine Theater hosts musicals each year. BRCC also has church services there each Sunday morning with contemporary worship bands and great Biblical preaching.

The Majik Children's Theater shows plays that the whole family will enjoy seeing.

See original plays, along with classic plays at the San Pedro Playhouse.

Gallery openings, lectures and concerts take place throughout the year at the Southwest School of Arts and Crafts.

A great place for children to see plays is at the Steven Stoli Playhouse And The Backyard Theater.

Of course, San Antonio theaters also include movie theaters. If you want to go to a movie but you don't want to spend a lot of money, visit Cinemark 16 on the Northwest side of town. Both of my sons worked there as teenagers.

They have recently remodeled inside and it looks great. Seats are $1 on Tuesdays and $1.50 most of the rest of the week, except on weekends in the evenings when tickets are $2. Be prepared for seats that are not very plush, except in one of their theater rooms. The concessions are terribly expensive, but they are expensive in all theaters.

The nicest movie theater I have been to is the Palladium Theater.

It is expensive and they even have a bar if you can't stay away from drinking for two hours at a time. Their food is also very expensive but it is a beautiful theater.

Santikos Silverado shows the latest movies and has a Starbucks.

Regal Cielo Vista is close to three new hotels on the Northwest side of San Antonio.

There are many others around town. You can check to see what movies are playing and the times here.

Go downtown to River Center Mall and see a movie at the IMAX Theater.
