San Antonio Attractions
There are a lot of popular San Antonio attractions for you to visit while you are vacationing in our fair city. If you like history, be sure to visit the one and only Alamo. Yes, that is correct. The Alamo from the movies is real and it is right here in downtown San Antonio. Admission is free and you and the kids will learn a lot as you tour this historic mission at River Center Mall, you can learn more about the Battle of the Alamo by visiting the Imax Theater.
Right across from the Alamo, visit the Plaza Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe It Or Not to see some of your favorite famous celebrities and historical people up close and personal and to see an interesting collection of unique items and experiences.
Also across from the Alamo are the Guiness Book of Records Museum, Tomb Rider 3D, and Ripley's Haunted Adventure. While you are downtown, you should visit our Riverwalk.
There are restaurants with outdoor cafe areas right on the banks of the San Antonio River, where you can eat delicious food while watching tourists ride by on riverboats. There are tons of shops to visit. Ride the river or walk along it on the sidewalk. Go to the beautiful River Center Mall and do some shopping.
Once a year, there is the River Mud Festival. While you are downtown, swing by Hemisfair Park. The tall structure is the Tower Of The Americas. This is a magnificent landmark that was built for the 250th anniversary of San Antonio back in 1968. Visit and eat lunch or dinner 750 feet in the air. Beware as the restaurant is a bit pricey. There is also a coffee shop where you can grab a snack up at the top. What a view! This was recently refurbished and the kids will love it. So will the adults. The views are spectacular at night.
If you like theme parks, we have our own version of the famous Six Flags Parks, Fiesta Texas. It is one of the most popular of San Antonio attractions during the summer.
Your pre-teens and teens will love all of the rides and roller coasters. The whole family will love the Texas-shaped pool open during the summer. Your small children will love posing with Bugs Bunny and the gang as they walk around the park, pleasing visitors of every age. It is easy to get to, right off of I-10. Take Exit 555.
Your whole family will love seeing Shamu and lots of other marine animals, including penguins at Sea World San Antonio. There is a whole kiddie section of rides for the little ones and roller coasters for the teens to enjoy. There are also family rides that you will all enjoy, not to mention wonderful shows going on all day long throughout the park. There is also a large pool and water slides to ride. All of this is included in the price of admission. Sea World is my favorite of all San Antonio attractions.
One of the most popular San Antonio attractions with children is our lovely SA Zoo. The whole family will enjoy observing the animals. Our children loved going there every chance we got when we first moved to San Antonio. Now they are grown and they still visit the zoo.
Visitors to San Antonio in February are in for a real treat--the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
If you have ever wanted to go on safari, you can visit Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. Other than the Alamo, one of the biggest San Antonio attractions is not a place, but a team of incredible players--The San Antonio Spurs!!!
If you visit during basketball season, you just have to get tickets and go to a home Spurs game. That is right. The incredible world champion San Antonio Spurs are ours and we are so proud of them! They play in the AT&T Center and it is always packed on game nights.
For baseball lovers who visit San Antonio during the summer, be sure to see a San Antonio Missions Baseball Game!
For ice hockey lovers, San Antonio has their own ice hockey team! If spelunking, also known as caving, is your thing, you can visit Cave Without A Name or another cave that is a little bigger, or another cave that is a little bigger, Natural Bridge Caverns.
For much of the summer, not to mention the spring and the fall, it is HOT here. It is almost always good to be in cool water. If you enjoy water parks, consider visiting Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. You may also enjoy San Antonio's own Splashtown.
See the beautiful flowers in San Antonio at the Botanical Gardens.
