Mi Tierra
Mi Tierra is a great Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. It is located in downtown Market Square.
If you have not yet eaten Tex-Mex style food, this is the place to go. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. The plates are piled with generous helpings.
Mi Tierra's meals are delicious. To prove it, this restaurant is always filled with locals from all over the city of San Antonio, not just tourists. For our convenience, it is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
I have gone to the bakery (above) at 1am and, as always, it is filled with a fabulous variety of yummy things to eat. At the same time, people were in the restaurant, eating wonderful Tex-Mex foods.
Mariachis, musicians dressed in traditional Mexican costumes, sing and play Mexican ballads in Spanish while strolling through the eating establishment. You are sure to enjoy this musical treat, especially if you have never experienced Mariachi music before.
After your meal in the restaurant, stop by their incredible bakery or panaderia, filled with all sorts of delicious baked goods called pan dulce and polvorones.
Pan dulce is Mexican sweet bread. There are many varieties, all yummy-looking and totally scrumptious. Polvorones are cookies topped with cinnamon and sugar.
These baked sweet breads are great for breakfast or for dessert and are even better with a cup of Mexican hot chocolate or coffee. If you have not tried authentic Mexican hot chocolate, take the time to order a cup here. It is different than the instant powdered stuff that we usually drink here in the United States.
You will have a difficult time choosing which pastry to try. There are some with pretty colors, some have fruit fillings, and others look like American sugar cookies. But they all have different textures and flavors than American pastries.
Try some pan dulce at the famous Mexican restaurant San Antonio natives prefer and then take home a bag filled with them for later on.
The address is 218 Produce Row. For more information, you can call them at (210)225-1262.
Breakfast ranges from $7 to $10 and lunch and dinner plates range from $8 to $20. Breakfast can be ordered 24 hours a day. The food served at Mi Tierra is worth every penny.
